RPower's Sasan UMPP lights up third unit

The 4,000 megawatt project has a total of six units

Reliance Power today said that it achieved the boiler light up of third 660 megawatt unit at Sasan ultra mega power project.

The first two units were commissioned last year. The 4,000 megawatt project has a total of six units. With the latest activity, a milestone towards commissioning the unit, will take the project's capacity to 1,980 megawatts.

"The balance units are in advanced stages and will be commissioned in the next few months, " the company said, in a press release.

Reliance Power is still fighting a controversy over the date of commissioning of the first unit. The commissioning date was challenged by the Western Load Dispatch Centre;, and now being heard by the tribunal.   
 

Reliance Power has a total generating capacity of around 3,900 megawatts.
