The new phone was launched in the presence of Smartron's strategic investor and brand ambassador cricket star Sachin Tendulkar and Telangana IT minister K T Rama Rao.
Priced at Rs 22,999, tPhone works on Android Marshmallow, V6.0.1 Operating System, powered by 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor V2.1 with Octa-core CPUs backed by 4GB LPDDR@ 1600 MHZ.
"Fully designed and engineered in India, the company will, over the next 2-3 years, move all of its manufacturing to be local,"said Mahesh Lingareddy, founder and chairman of Smartron India Private Limited. According to him, the company has also lined up other products for 2016.
