As tension with neighbour intensifies Gujarat reviews coastal security

Gujarat is connected with Pakistan through sea route

Automakers ready to use coastal shipping

In the wake of rising tension between India and Pakistan, top officials of Gujarat government have reviewed the threats and security of ports and coasts of the state. Minister of state for shipping and ports, government of India was also present at the coastal security meeting.

"When Gujarat is connected with Pakistan through sea route, security of ports and coasts becomes important. The state has one major and 48 minor ports and security of it is in priority," said Mansukh Mandavia, MoS for ports and shipping, government of India.

In the security review meeting, home minister of Gujarat Pradipsinh Jadeja, chief secretary, director general of police and top officials of coastguard were participated. Possible challenges of coastal safety and preparation of safeguard had been discussed in the meeting.

 

Mandavia said: "Gujarat police and coastguard are well prepared to face any confrontation. The state administration is also ready for such circumstances."
