CWG street lighting scam: Charges framed against 7

Seven accused, including four Municipal Corporation of Delhi officials, were put on trial today by a Delhi court for their alleged involvement in a corruption case involving upgradation of city's street lighting before the 2010 Commonwealth Games. Special CBI judge Pradeep Chaddah began the trial with formal framing of charges of criminal conspiracy, cheating and forgery under the IPC and various provisions of the Prevention of Corruption Act against six persons and a private firm, which was alleged to have been favoured in the award of the street lighting contract before the games.
