The Kerala High Court today dismissed a petition filed by the opposition leader V S Achuthanandan against the report of the Vigilance department of Kerala police in connection with the palmolein import case.
The petition questioned the probe report of the Vigilance court which dispelled the role of the chief minister Oommen Chandy in the case.
Reacting to the plea, the high court informed that there were no sufficient reasons to interfere in the case.
Earlier, the Vigilance court, Thrissur, had approved the investigation report and Justice S S Satheesh Chandran upheld the judgment.
The investigation team submitted report in the Vigilance Court on January 7, 2012.
Reacting to the HC order, Achuthanandan pleaded to continue with the enquiry against Oommen Chandy for his alleged involvement in the import case during his tenure as the finance minister.
Meanwhile, the Kerala government submitted before the HC that the opposition leader cannot interfere in the case from the point of view of the law.
The case relates to allegations against the then chief minister K Karunakaran, civil supplies minister T H Musthafa and a number of ministers and higher officials, in which the state government had incurred a loss to the tune of Rs 2.32 crore in the import of 32,000 tonnes of palmolein from a Singapore-based firm in1993.
