State owned multi system operator Tamil Nadu Arasu Cable TV Corporation has issued a public notice against content aggregator Media Pro. The notice comes after the Madras High Court warned Telecom Regulatory Authority of India from taking any coercive measures to implement switch off of the MSO's analogue signals while its digital addressable cable (DAS) license is pending with the central government.
The MSO and the aggregator have had a falling out of sorts on the issue of carriage fee. According to sources from the industry, both the parties refuse to back down and as a result, the MSO decided to issue the public notice saying that the channels from Media Pro will not be available after 21 days of issuing the notice. It also stated that the reason for this step is is breach of Letter of Acceptance and non-conclusion of price negotiation between Arasu and Media Pro (by the latter).
Media Pro is a joint venture between Star India and Zee Entertainment Enterprises Limited and consists of channels both the networks, including the Asianet channels. The notice further says that if the issue is not resolved and its stops providing customers channels from the Media Pro bouquet, alternate channels from the various genres will be telecast for the subscribers' benefit.
Representatives from Media Pro and Arasu were unavailable for comment at the time of filing.
