Tourists can visit Siachen, see how Army works in tough place: Rajnath

Siachen, the world's highest battlefield, is now open to tourists, said defence minister Rajnath Singh on Monday.

Opening the area from Siachen base camp to Kumar Post will give people a chance to see how the Army's jawans and engineers work in extreme weather in Ladakh, he said.

Singh was addressing a function in eastern Ladakh to inaugurate the Colonel Chewang Rinchin Bridge on Shyok River, located about 45 km from the county's border with China.
