According to the latest data from the Central Water Commission (CWC), as on March 9, the overall water storage position in the reservoirs of the country is less than the corresponding period of last year but is better than the average storage of the last 10 years during the corresponding period.
According to the reservoirs’ bulletin, the live storage available in these reservoirs is 86.449 billion cubic metres (BCM), which is 49 per cent of the total live storage capacity of these reservoirs.
Last year during the same period, the total water available in these reservoirs was 53 per cent of the live storage capacity.
However, the water available this year is significantly higher than the 10-year average storage (75.218 BCM).
