Govt consults select stakeholders for views on data protection bill

The ministry has asked for clarifications from some people who had earlier given their comments on the proposed Data Protection Bill

The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) has written to a few stakeholders, asking for additional comments on the proposed Personal Data Protection (PDP) Bill. The ministry has sought responses from them by August 25, according to a news report. 

MeitY Joint Secretary J Gopalakrishnan told online news portal MediaNama the ministry has asked for clarifications from people who had given their comments on the proposed Bill. It was not clear who these individuals concerned were. 
 
Several people and industry associations who have submitted their comments, denied having received any communication regarding the clarifications from the MeitY.
