Sc Upholds Order In Kini Case

Dismissing a special leave petition by the state of Maharashtra and others against the impugned order, a division bench of the court said that it did not approve the view of the High Court that it ordered CBI inquiry because of public outcry against the death of Ramesh Kini.
We are however, in agreement with the High Court in the fact and circumstances of the case, a CBI probe was imperative, said the bench comprising Justice M M Punchhi and Justice K T Thomas. According to police, Kini allegedly committed suicide during the nineo clock show in a cinema hall and a suicide note was recovered from his pocket.
But according to the wife of the deceased, he was allegedly murdered by a close relative of Thackeray for refusing to vacate a rented house in Mumbai. It is also alleged that on the fateful day Kini was seen entering the office of Samna mouthpiece of the Shiv Sena and having an altercation with the said relative of Thackeray. Kini had informed his lawyer that he was receiving threats from that relative of Thackeray.
