Vivek Rae appointed as new petroleum secretary

Rae will succeed Girish Chandra Chaturvedi retiring on Jan 31

Vivek Rae, a 1978 batch Indian Administrative Office (IAS) officer from Union Territory cadre, has been appointed as the new secretary for the ministry of petroleum and natural gas.

Rae, who is presently the secretary at the ministry of micro, small and medium enterprises (MSME), will succeed Girish Chandra Chaturvedi in his new role. Chaturvedi will be retiring from the post of petroleum secretary on January 31.

Rae’s appointment was approved today by the appointments committee of the Cabinet (CCA). Other major appointments cleared by the committee include Dalip Singh, a 1982 batch IAS officer from Haryana cadre as additional secretary, ministry of steel, Alok Sheel , from Kerala cadre of 1982, as secretary, economic advisory council to the Prime Minister and   Leena Nair, from 1982 batch Tamil Nadu cadre, as chairperson, Marine Products Exports Development Authority (MPEDA), department of commerce.
