Walchand College gets Rs 3 cr fund

Ajit Gulabchand, chairman & managing director of Hindustan Construction Co Ltd and chairman of the administrative Council of Walchand College of Engineering, Sangli, pledged a sum of Rs 3 crore to the college.
 
The funds will be utilised to upgrade infrastructure and make the college a center of excellence.
 
"This infusion of funds by Gulabchand is most timely and we welcome it," said A R Yardi, principal, Walchand College.
 
The College has recently received a grant of Rs 8.5 crore from the Central Government (under World Bank funding) as part of its technical education quality improvement programme.
 
The College will be augmenting and upgrading its facilities in computing and networking, library, research, training etc and will also set up specialised laboratories in select areas.
 
"The college's plans to become a center of excellence are achievable," said Gulabchand.
