UCO Bank Q3 net up two-fold at Rs 172 cr

State-run UCO Bank today reported a two-fold growth in net profit at Rs 171.63 crore for the third quarter ended December 31, 2008, as compared to Rs 82.78 crore in the same quarter a year ago.

Total income rose 33.36 per cent to Rs 2,433.52 crore during the quarter under review, from Rs 1,824.73 crore in the corresponding period last fiscal.

For the nine-month ended December 31, the bank reported a 39.54 per cent growth in net profit at Rs 455.16. The total income also rose 26.65 per cent to Rs 6,620.66 crore during the nine-month period.

Shares of UCO Bank were closed at Rs 28.8, up 2.5 per cent on the BSE today.
