Major Port Trusts Act
The Government has undertaken an exercise to amend the Major Port Trusts Act, 1963 with a view to secure greater operational freedom to the Board of Trustees of Major Ports in tune with present day requirements and also giving flexibility in fixation of user charges to service providers in Major Port Trusts. The Maritime State Governments and other stakeholders have largely supported the proposals. This information was given by Minister of State for Shipping, Shri Pon Radhakrishnan in a written reply to a question in the Lok Sabha today.
