Smt. Rajalakshmi Ravikumar has taken over as the new Financial Commissioner (FC) (Railways) and ex-officio Secretary to the Government of India. She assumed her charge today i.e. on 14.11.2014. Prior to her appointment as FC in Railway Board, Smt. Ravikumar was Director General, National Academy of Indian Railways, Vadodara.
A 1977 batch officer from Indian Railway Account Service (IRAS), Smt. Rajalakshmi Ravikumar has worked on various middle and higher level management posts in the Railways including FA&CAO, Konkan Railway Corporation Limited (KRCL), FA&CAO, Integral Coach Factory, Chennai, FA&CAO, Central Railway, Director Finance, KRCL, Divisional Railway Manager, Solapur etc.
She has undergone various training programmes in India and abroad which include 'Financial Management' in Rothman School, Toronto, 'Strategic Management Programmes for Divisional Railway Managers' in Hec-Business School, Paris
During her tenure as Divisional Railway Manager, Solapur in Central Railway during 2007-08, the Division has received overall inter divisional efficiency shield. Central Railway bagged 'Best Performance Shield in Financial Management' from Minister of Railways during her stint as FA&CAO in Central Railway in the year 2011-12.
She has keen interest in Theatre and music.
