R&D in Power Sector
The Government of India is promoting Research and Development for the Indian power sector through Central Power Research Institute (CPRI), a national organization under the Ministry of Power, which promotes applied research leading to technology development in the power sector. The Ministry supports R&D in CPRI through the following three schemes: (i) R&D under National Perspective Plan (NPP);
(ii) Research Scheme on Power (RSoP); and
(iii) In-House R&D (IHRD).
This was stated by Shri Piyush Goyal, Minister of State (IC) for Power, Coal & New and Renewable Energy in a written reply to a question in the Lok Sabha today.
