Chinese tourists splash out twice as much as Americans

Chinese tourists spent the most overseas last year, splashing out $261 billion while on vacation, according to the World Tourism Organization. That’s more than twice the amount of people from the US, the next biggest spenders. Adjusting for foreign-exchange fluctuations, Chinese spending oversees rose 12 per cent in local currency, cementing the country’s position as the world’s biggest spender for the fifth consecutive year.
