Syria attack: UN to investigate the alleged use of chemical weapons

The suspected chemical attack killed at least 58 people in Syria

The UN's Commission of Inquiry for Syria said on Tuesday that it had begun investigating a suspected chemical attack that killed at least 58 people in a rebel-held town in the northwestern Idlib Province.

"Reports suggesting that this was a chemical weapons attack are extremely concerning. The commission is currently investigating the circumstances surrounding this attack including the alleged use of chemical weapons," said a statement from the UN experts who are probing potential war crimes committed during Syria's civil war.
