Sensex down 307pts; HUL, ONGC, RCom drag

| The Sensex is now down 307 points at 17,784. The NSE Nifty is down 106 points at 5,175. Bajaj Auto, Reliance Energy and Hindustan Unilever have slumped around 5% each to Rs 2,255, Rs 2,000 and Rs 196, respectively. ONGC and Reliance Communications (RCom) have tumbled 4.7% each to Rs 970 and Rs 613, respectively. NTPC and Reliance have dropped 4% each to Rs 203 and Rs 2,472, respectively. ICICI Bank has slipped nearly 3% to Rs 1,185. Tata Motors, DLF and Hindalco have declined around 2.5% each to Rs 697, Rs 860 and Rs 175, respectively. Maruti, Larsen & Toubro and Mahindra & Mahindra are down around 1.5% each at Rs 844, Rs 3,712 and Rs 691, respectively. BHEL has moved up 1.6% to Rs 2,085. Tata Steel, HDFC and Ambuja Cements are up over 1% each at Rs 725, Rs 2,881 and Rs 119, respectively. Out of 2,769 stocks traded so far, 2,028 have declined, 689 have advanced and 52 are unchanged. |
