Sensex posts first weekly loss in a month; Nifty closes below 11,900

The benchmark indices recovered from their initial losses to end Friday’s session higher than Tursday, but posted their first weekly loss in four weeks. The Sensex fell 0.25 per cent this week, as credit rating downgrades triggered by the risk of debt default rattled investors.

The Sensex ended the session at 39,615.90, a gain of 86 points or 0.22 per cent, while the Nifty rose 27 points to end the session at 11,871 points.
