In a horrifying incident, an Air India technician was on Wednesday sucked into the engine of a parked aircraft at the Mumbai airport. He died immediately.
The accident took place when aircraft, AI 619, was at the parking bay and was being prepared for departure to Hyderabad.
"An Air India technician died in a mishap during pushback of flight AI 619, incident is being investigated," said Air India Chairman and Managing Director, Ashwani Lohani.
"Our heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family. The incident is being investigated," he added.
