Christian Bale, who had put on 43 pounds for his role in Oscar-nominated 'American Hustle,' suffered a herniated disc due to the drastic weight gain, it has been revealed.
The revelation was made by David O. Russell, director of the film, on USA Today, while asserting that 'The Dark Knight' star had lost three inches of height as well, Contactmusic reported.
Bale is a quiet, sweet, smart person with endless passion, Russell added in the interview.
