The Bangalore Police on Saturday arrested an individual in connection with the ongoing case of rape of a 3 year old girl in a nursery school.
"The identification of the pictures of the accused was done by an approved specialist agency and a statement of the victim was also recorded before the judicial magistrate, based on these two evidences and also on the evidences collected so far as circumstantial evidence and medical evidence ;we have arrested one individual today in this case," said Bangalore Police Commissioner MN Reddi while addressing a press conference here.
The two main evidence based on which the arrest was made are the pictures of the accused in CCTV footage and the statement of the victim.
Reddi further said that it wasn't easy to collect information from the victim because of her age and the state she is in.
Reddi said that the name of the arrested accused is Gundappa, who has been working with the school for the past two years and that the police did not have any criminal record of the accused.
Earlier on Tuesday, a three-year-old LKG student was allegedly raped in a private school in Bangalore. The girl was subjected to medical tests on Tuesday before being admitted to a private hospital.
Bangalore Police had earlier on Thursday detained a suspect and filed a criminal complaint against the school.
