The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Saturday welcomed the Election Commission's decision to announce assembly poll dates for Jammu and Kashmir and also called upon the voters of the state to give BJP a chance if they wish to usher in good governance in the state.
"We welcome the decision of the Election Commission of India and we have full faith in the discretion and the prerogative of the Election Commission of India to decide the dates. As we have already said the Bharatiya Janata Party is always ready for the elections, we are ready anytime," Minister of State for Prime Minister's Office Jitendra Singh told ANI here.
"The BJP workers are ready to jump into the election fray with absolute confidence and with full potential...," he added.
He also urged the people of Jammu and Kashmir to vote for the BJP if it seeks good governance. "They have seen the kind of governance which is being provided by the BJP -led governments in various states be it Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat and therefore, if they wish to reproduce the same kind of model of good governance and easy governance and people friendly governance in the state of Jammu and Kashmir, I think the only option is available is BJP," he said.
"And also more important for the state because it has gone through a long long nightmarish two decades of terrorism, militancy and recent floods. And lot many sequence of incompatible situation and here is an opportunity for the people of Jammu and Kashmir and to give BJP a chance," he added.

The Election Commission on Saturday announced that elections in Jammu and Kashmir and Jharkhand will be held in five-phases beginning from November 25.
The elections in the two states will take place on November 25, December 2, December 9, December 14 and December 20.
The counting of votes in both states will take place on December 23.
The Jammu and Kashmir Assembly comprises 87 members. Presently, the state is being run by a National Conference-Congress alliance. The term of the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly expires on January 19 next year.
