Congress condemns Muzaffarnagar rape case, calls for probe

The Congress Party on Thursday condemned the Muzaffarnagar rape case and asked the Akhilesh Yadav-led Samajwadi Party Government to enquire into it.

"This incident of rape is highly condemnable. The Samajwadi Government must order a probe and ensure that the culprits are brought to book," Congress leader R.P.N. Singh told ANI.

A 40-year-old mother of three allegedly committed suicide in Muzaffarnagar last week after a video clip of her gang-rape was circulated on WhatsApp.

Two of the accused were arrested and sent to jail after being produced before a local court in Muzaffarnagar on Monday.
