A former bodyguard of the ex-Cuban leader has written in a new book about Castro's alleged luxurious lifestyle claiming that he headed illegal drug-smuggling schemes to the United States.
According to Fox News, in "The Double Life of Fidel Castro: My 17 Years as Personal Bodyguard to El Lider Maximo," Juan Reinaldo Sanchez talked about how he became disillusioned with the ex-Cuban leadership after 17 years of service.
Sanchez claimed that he overheard a meeting of Castro and former Cuban Gen. Jose Abrantes, who was stripped of his rank later, and the two discussed the drug trafficking business to the US.
The conversation in the meeting focused on Cuban lanchero, who smuggled drugs to the US by boat, conducting business with the government, wrote Sanchez.
