Iran attempted missile launch from submarine: U.S. officials

Iran on Tuesday attempted to launch a cruise missile from a submarine in the Strait of Hormuz, two U.S. officials told Fox News.

The test, however, failed.

An Iranian Yono-class "midget" submarine is reported to have conducted the missile launch.

Iran, along with North Korea, operates this type of submarine.

Iran had earlier in February claimed to have successfully tested a submarine-launched missile.
