In two separate incidents, security forces have arrested 19 militants and linkmen belonging to the banned terror outfits Karbi Land Protection Force and National Democratic Front of Bodoland- Songbijit in Assam as part of counter insurgency operations in the state.
In the first incident, eight KLPF members were arrested by a joint team of the army and the state police in the Karbi Anglong district of Assam. According to reports, an exchange of fire between the militants and security forces led to the latter busting a hideout of the outfit, Six militants and two linkmen were arrested in the operation, with grenades, arms and ammunition also recovered.
In the second incident, a joint operation by the army and the police led to the arrest of11 linkmen belonging to the NDFB(S) in the Chirang district of the state.
