Magisterial inquiry ordered into Meerut clashes

Uttar Pradesh government has ordered a magisterial inquiry into the Meerut group clashes which left two dozen injured.
The District Magistrate of Meerut will conduct the inquiry.
Meanwhile, authorities have beefed up security. No arrests have been made so far, however cases have been registered against 200 persons.
The clashes broke out following a dispute over the construction of a water kiosk near a mosque in the Teergaran area of the old city on Saturday.
A group of locals opposed the setting up of the cooler which led to a confrontation.
