Obama praises Ethiopia as 'outstanding partner' for fight against al-Shabab militants

United States President Barack Obama has praised Ethiopia's efforts in its fight against the Islamist terrorist group al- Shabab, calling the country an "outstanding partner".

According to the BBC, Obama said that Ethiopia's troops played a major role in the weakening of the terrorist organization in Somalia.

The US president's comments came after talks with Ethiopian Prime Minister Hailemariam Desalegn.

He also called on Hailemariam to improve Ethiopia's record on human rights and good governance.
