Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) president Ram Vilas Paswan on Thursday dubbed Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar's 'Har Ghar Dastak' campaign as a political gimmick ahead of the assembly elections scheduled to take place in November this year.

"What was Nitish Kumar doing for the last 10 years? This is all a gimmick as the elections are approaching in Bihar. Bihar has reached its peak in terms of atrocities and torture as it was recently seen how brutally the school director was beaten to death. Cases of rape and murder are being daily reported in the state. 'Jungle raj' has returned to the state," he said.

When asked about the absence of Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav from the promotional posters, Paswan said, "Lalu ji should have thought about it. He was acting like the elder brother as if he was the only leader in Bihar and now he is acting like a coward and is keeping mum...Lalu Yadav should think about it or else he must accept that he is so untouchable that neither the Congress Party wants him to come on stage nor Nitish Kumar wants his photo on the campaign posters. Nitish Kumar thinks that his votes would shift if he uses Lalu's image."

"When the election time will come, Nitish's vote will go on one side and Lalu's vote will go on the other. They both will attack each other and the NDA will form the government with two-third majority. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is a national leader and the party will replicate its performance which it had achieved in the Lok Sabha polls, and form the government in Bihar," he added.

'Har Ghar Dastak' is a programme where the JD (U) will seek feedback from the people about the work done by the state government in the past.

In the interactive program formally launched by state JD (U) president Basistha Narayan Singh, around 10,000 party workers would knock doors of one crore homes and have a 'direct conversation' with people on the functioning of the state government.

The programme would run in two phases from July 2 to July 11 and from July 21 to July 31 respectively.
