People's Democratic Party (PDP) patron Mufti Mohammad Sayeed met Janata Dal (United) chief Sharad Yadav here on Friday and invited him for his swearing-in ceremony.
"Sharad Yadav is my old friend and I came here to invite him and his family for my swearing-in ceremony," Sayeed told ANI here.
Earlier in the day, the PDP chief met Prime Minister Narendra Modi and invited him for his swearing-in ceremony as the chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir on March 1.
Sayeed also rooted for dialogue with Pakistan to establish peace in the region.
"It is dream of the prime minister and mine to make Jammu and Kashmir an island of peace. We should also engage Pakistan," he told the media after meeting the Prime Minister.
After the Jammu and Kashmir elections threw up a hung verdict, the Bharatiya Janata Party and the People's Democratic Party formulated an alliance, stating that their union was formulated keeping peace of the state in mind.
The PDP had emerged as the single-largest party in the Jammu and Kashmir winning 28 seats. The BJP won 25 seats, while the National Conference and Congress won 15 and 12 seats respectively.
