Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday laid the foundation stone of the fourth container terminal at Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust (JNPT) here.
According to JNPT chairman Anil Diggikar, the terminal is the single largest foreign direct investment in any project in the port sector in recent times.
The terminal is proposed to be developed on design, build, fund, operate and transfer (DBFOT) basis for a concession period of 30 years for an estimated cost of Rs.7,915 crore.
Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Union Roads, Highways and Shipping Minister Nitin Gadkari also shared the dais with Prime Minister Modi during the ceremony.
