Australian cricket legend Richie Benaud has announced his opposition to the controversial Decision Review System (DRS) in its present form, saying that he finds it too complicated.
The 83-year-old doyen of Channel Nine's commentary team is recovering from his car accident last month and will not call the Ashes Tests in Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth but could be back in front of the microphone on Boxing Day.
According to The Age, Benaud added his weight to the growing opposition to the DRS, calling it too complicated and adding that if it is too complicated for him, then it must be very complicated for the 'folk on the hill'.
Although Benaud admitted that he can see the need for a review under certain circumstances, however, he added that all the DRS does at the moment is reduce the day's over rate.
