South Korean first lady Kim Jung-sook will be the Chief Guest at the Deepotsav event being organised by the Uttar Pradesh government on November 6.
Accepting Prime Minister Narendra Modi's invitation, she will be leading a high-level delegation that is scheduled to visit India from November 4 to 7 this year.
"She will be the Chief Guest at the Deepotsav event being organised by the State Government of Uttar Pradesh and the ground-breaking ceremony of the Queen Suriratna (Heo Hwang-ok) Memorial in Ayodhya on 6 November 2018," read an official Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) press release.
Ayodhya and Korea share a deep historical connection through Ayodhya's Princess Suriratna, who married Korean King Suro in 48 CE.
Apart from a historical bond, the nations also share a Special Strategic Partnership, along with cooperation in various sectors.
The statement, which was released on Wednesday, further noted, "The First Lady's participation in the festivities in Ayodhya will showcase our close civilisational links as well as the ongoing deepening engagement between our two countries.
