Second major earthquake measuring 6.8 strikes Balochistan in five days

Second major earthquake of 6.8 magnitude had struck Pakistan's Balochistan province on Friday, the US Geological Survey (USGS) revealed.

The epicentre of the quake was recorded at 96 kilometres North-East of Balochistan's Awaran district and the tremors were felt as far as Jaffarabad, Sibi, Naseerabad and Quetta, Dawn News reports.

Tremors were also felt in Naushero Feroz, Shikarpur, Karachi and Hyderabad areas of Sindh province, the report added.

The Met office recorded the intensity of the earthquake at 7.2 on the Richter Scale and said the epicentre of the quake was 150 kilometres southwest of Khuzdar.

September 24 earthquake victims, who were under treatment at the Awaran district hospital, moved to open spaces after feeling the tremors.
