Basic materials stocks edge higher

Basic materials stocks were trading in green, with the S&P BSE Basic Materials index increasing 45.7 points or 1.85% at 2514.17 at 09:47 IST.

Among the components of the S&P BSE Basic Materials index, Tata Steel Long Products Ltd (up 5.39%), Tata Metaliks Ltd (up 5.04%),KIOCL Ltd (up 4.94%),Sunflag Iron & Steel Company Ltd (up 4.76%),Sharda Cropchem Ltd (up 4.71%), were the top gainers. Among the other gainers were Vedanta Ltd (up 4.56%), International Paper APPM Ltd (up 4.55%), Zuari Global Ltd (up 4.51%), Sanghi Industries Ltd (up 4.25%), and Jindal Steel & Power Ltd (up 3.97%).

On the other hand, Uniply Industries Ltd (down 6.67%), Ballarpur Industries Ltd (down 3.57%), and Rushil Decor Ltd (down 2.83%) turned lower.

 

At 09:47 IST, the S&P BSE Sensex was up 388.67 or 1.03% at 38269.07.

The Nifty 50 index was up 106.25 points or 0.95% at 11340.8.

The S&P BSE Small-Cap index was up 94.17 points or 0.74% at 12817.47.

The S&P BSE 150 Midcap Index index was up 35.4 points or 0.82% at 4343.54.

On BSE,931 shares were trading in green, 428 were trading in red and 61 were unchanged.
