Basic materials stocks slide

Basic materials stocks were trading with losses, with the S&P BSE Basic Materials index decreasing 52.35 points or 2.08% at 2466.59 at 13:45 IST.

Among the components of the S&P BSE Basic Materials index, Ganesh Benzoplast Ltd (down 7.4%), Asahi Songwon Colors Ltd (down 7.23%),Plastiblends India Ltd (down 6.75%),Jindal Steel & Power Ltd (down 6.57%),Thirumalai Chemicals Ltd (down 6.45%), were the top losers. Among the other losers were Steel Authority of India Ltd (down 5.54%), Jai Corp Ltd (down 5.43%), Kanoria Chemicals & Industries Ltd (down 5.21%), Camlin Fine Sciences Ltd (down 4.94%), and JBF Industries Ltd (down 4.93%).

On the other hand, Jindal Poly Films Ltd (up 3.93%), West Coast Paper Mills Ltd (up 3.37%), and Orient Paper & Industries Ltd (up 3.21%) turned up.

 

At 13:45 IST, the S&P BSE Sensex was down 430.84 or 1.18% at 36133.04.

The Nifty 50 index was down 130.9 points or 1.21% at 10709.75.

The S&P BSE Small-Cap index was down 167.91 points or 1.3% at 12726.32.

The S&P BSE 150 Midcap Index index was down 53.45 points or 1.25% at 4223.01.

On BSE,610 shares were trading in green, 1680 were trading in red and 113 were unchanged.
