Quick Wrap: Nifty Metal Index rises 2.73%

Nifty Metal index closed up 2.73% at 3022.95 today. The index is up 2.00% over last one month. Among the constituents, Jindal Steel & Power Ltd gained 5.73%, Hindustan Zinc Ltd added 4.47% and Vedanta Ltd jumped 4.40%. The Nifty Metal index is down 11.00% over last one year compared to the 10.01% surge in benchmark Nifty 50 index. In other indices, Nifty PSU Bank index added 1.88% and Nifty Pharma index gained 1.75% on the day. In broad markets, the Nifty 50 recorded a gain of 0.43% to close at 11847.55 while the SENSEX added 0.40% to close at 39592.08 today.
