Energy shares spurt

Energy stocks were trading with gains, with the S&P BSE Energy index rising 60.97 points or 1.17% at 5254.27 at 09:48 IST.

Among the components of the S&P BSE Energy index, Alphageo (India) Ltd (up 6.7%), Goa Carbon Ltd (up 4.98%),Reliance Industries Ltd (up 1.72%),Oil India Ltd (up 1.35%),Confidence Petroleum India Ltd (up 1.05%), were the top gainers. Among the other gainers were Aban Offshore Ltd (up 0.91%), Hindustan Oil Exploration Company Ltd (up 0.85%), Castrol India Ltd (up 0.6%), Selan Explorations Technology Ltd (up 0.51%), and Gujarat Mineral Development Corporation Ltd (up 0.43%).

On the other hand, Chennai Petroleum Corporation Ltd (down 1.66%), Adani Gas Ltd (down 1.21%), and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd (down 1.08%) moved lower.

 

At 09:48 IST, the S&P BSE Sensex was down 18.9 or 0.05% at 41913.66.

The Nifty 50 index was down 4.65 points or 0.04% at 12350.85.

The S&P BSE Small-Cap index was up 28.89 points or 0.2% at 14676.43.

The S&P BSE 150 Midcap Index index was up 3.14 points or 0.06% at 5018.27.

On BSE,890 shares were trading in green, 573 were trading in red and 78 were unchanged.
