Energy shares tumble

Energy stocks were trading in the negative zone, with the S&P BSE Energy index falling 97.68 points or 1.84% at 5217.57 at 13:48 IST.

Among the components of the S&P BSE Energy index, Reliance Industries Ltd (down 2.58%), Alphageo (India) Ltd (down 2.45%),Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd (down 2.19%),Chennai Petroleum Corporation Ltd (down 1.94%),Coal India Ltd (down 1.19%), were the top losers. Among the other losers were Aban Offshore Ltd (down 0.98%), Adani Gas Ltd (down 0.77%), Petronet LNG Ltd (down 0.71%), Goa Carbon Ltd (down 0.56%), and Hindustan Oil Exploration Company Ltd (down 0.55%).

On the other hand, Aegis Logistics Ltd (up 1.55%), Selan Explorations Technology Ltd (up 1.52%), and Panama Petrochem Ltd (up 1.42%) moved up.

 

At 13:48 IST, the S&P BSE Sensex was down 129.55 or 0.32% at 40545.9.

The Nifty 50 index was down 37.9 points or 0.32% at 11956.3.

The S&P BSE Small-Cap index was down 19.16 points or 0.14% at 13389.76.

The S&P BSE 150 Midcap Index index was up 8.49 points or 0.18% at 4707.04.

On BSE,976 shares were trading in green, 1286 were trading in red and 195 were unchanged.
