Energy stocks edge lower
Energy stocks were trading in red, with the S&P BSE Energy index decreasing 67.57 points or 1.26% at 5291.09 at 13:47 IST.
Among the components of the S&P BSE Energy index, Confidence Petroleum India Ltd (down 4.05%), Goa Carbon Ltd (down 4.01%),Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd (down 2.6%),Oil & Natural Gas Corpn Ltd (down 1.65%),Petronet LNG Ltd (down 1.64%), were the top losers. Among the other losers were Reliance Industries Ltd (down 1.57%), Oil India Ltd (down 1.51%), Gulf Oil Lubricants India Ltd (down 1.12%), Indian Oil Corporation Ltd (down 0.75%), and Castrol India Ltd (down 0.7%).
On the other hand, Adani Gas Ltd (up 7.63%), Alphageo (India) Ltd (up 4.99%), and Gujarat Gas Ltd (up 3.08%) turned up.
At 13:47 IST, the S&P BSE Sensex was down 380.39 or 0.92% at 40749.78.
The Nifty 50 index was down 108.65 points or 0.89% at 12042.5.
The S&P BSE Small-Cap index was up 45.1 points or 0.33% at 13542.46.
The S&P BSE 150 Midcap Index index was up 10.34 points or 0.22% at 4758.89.
On BSE,1117 shares were trading in green, 1213 were trading in red and 182 were unchanged.
