Metal stocks edge lower

Metal stocks were trading in red, with the S&P BSE Metal index decreasing 249.46 points or 2.79% at 8697.72 at 13:45 IST.

Among the components of the S&P BSE Metal index, Jindal Steel & Power Ltd (down 6.48%), Steel Authority of India Ltd (down 5.39%),Tata Steel Ltd (down 4.55%),NMDC Ltd (down 4.27%),Vedanta Ltd (down 4.18%), were the top losers. Among the other losers were JSW Steel Ltd (down 2.35%), Hindalco Industries Ltd (down 2%), Hindustan Zinc Ltd (down 1.9%), and National Aluminium Company Ltd (down 0.34%).

On the other hand, Coal India Ltd (up 0.16%), turned up.

At 13:45 IST, the S&P BSE Sensex was down 430.84 or 1.18% at 36133.04.

 

The Nifty 50 index was down 130.9 points or 1.21% at 10709.75.

The S&P BSE Small-Cap index was down 167.91 points or 1.3% at 12726.32.

The S&P BSE 150 Midcap Index index was down 53.45 points or 1.25% at 4223.01.

On BSE,610 shares were trading in green, 1680 were trading in red and 113 were unchanged.
