Metal shares gain

Metal stocks were trading in the positive zone, with the S&P BSE Metal index rising 35.1 points or 0.43% at 8284.43 at 09:50 IST.

Among the components of the S&P BSE Metal index, Vedanta Ltd (up 0.89%), Coal India Ltd (up 0.75%),Steel Authority of India Ltd (up 0.66%),JSW Steel Ltd (up 0.43%),Tata Steel Ltd (up 0.42%), were the top gainers. Among the other gainers were Jindal Steel & Power Ltd (up 0.32%), and Hindalco Industries Ltd (up 0.03%).

On the other hand, NMDC Ltd (down 0.56%), National Aluminium Company Ltd (down 0.5%), and Hindustan Zinc Ltd (down 0.07%) moved lower.

 

At 09:50 IST, the S&P BSE Sensex was down 51.12 or 0.14% at 36511.79.

The Nifty 50 index was down 17.35 points or 0.16% at 10780.55.

The S&P BSE Small-Cap index was down 15.84 points or 0.13% at 12353.98.

The S&P BSE 150 Midcap Index index was down 9.8 points or 0.23% at 4175.55.

On BSE,632 shares were trading in green, 657 were trading in red and 74 were unchanged.
