Metal shares fall

Metal stocks were trading in the negative zone, with the S&P BSE Metal index falling 171.47 points or 2.01% at 8352.81 at 13:50 IST.

Among the components of the S&P BSE Metal index, National Aluminium Company Ltd (down 3%), Tata Steel Ltd (down 2.96%),Vedanta Ltd (down 2.4%),Hindalco Industries Ltd (down 2.28%),NMDC Ltd (down 1.99%), were the top losers. Among the other losers were JSW Steel Ltd (down 1.5%), Jindal Steel & Power Ltd (down 1.24%), Coal India Ltd (down 1.14%), Hindustan Zinc Ltd (down 1.08%), and Steel Authority of India Ltd (down 0.48%).

At 13:50 IST, the S&P BSE Sensex was down 570.34 or 1.53% at 36762.45.

 

The Nifty 50 index was down 165.85 points or 1.5% at 10857.4.

The S&P BSE Small-Cap index was down 111.67 points or 0.89% at 12423.03.

The S&P BSE 150 Midcap Index index was down 40.29 points or 0.95% at 4210.58.

On BSE,802 shares were trading in green, 1436 were trading in red and 158 were unchanged.
