Metal stocks slide

Metal stocks were trading with losses, with the S&P BSE Metal index decreasing 145.07 points or 1.4% at 10207.73 at 13:48 IST.

Among the components of the S&P BSE Metal index, JSW Steel Ltd (down 2.47%), NMDC Ltd (down 1.76%),Coal India Ltd (down 1.58%),Hindalco Industries Ltd (down 1.53%),Tata Steel Ltd (down 1.27%), were the top losers. Among the other losers were Hindustan Zinc Ltd (down 1.1%), Vedanta Ltd (down 0.7%), Jindal Steel & Power Ltd (down 0.63%), and Steel Authority of India Ltd (down 0.11%).

At 13:48 IST, the S&P BSE Sensex was down 196.86 or 0.48% at 40672.61.

The Nifty 50 index was down 63.15 points or 0.52% at 11989.8.

 

The S&P BSE Small-Cap index was down 7.33 points or 0.05% at 13844.06.

The S&P BSE 150 Midcap Index index was down 4.24 points or 0.09% at 4768.29.

On BSE,801 shares were trading in green, 1461 were trading in red and 167 were unchanged.
