Metal stocks soar

Metal stocks were trading in green, with the S&P BSE Metal index increasing 274.47 points or 3.23% at 8770.66 at 09:47 IST.

Among the components of the S&P BSE Metal index, Vedanta Ltd (up 4.56%), Jindal Steel & Power Ltd (up 3.97%),Tata Steel Ltd (up 3.59%),Hindalco Industries Ltd (up 3.51%),Steel Authority of India Ltd (up 2.99%), were the top gainers. Among the other gainers were Coal India Ltd (up 2.85%), JSW Steel Ltd (up 2.71%), National Aluminium Company Ltd (up 2.26%), Hindustan Zinc Ltd (up 2.11%), and NMDC Ltd (up 1.46%).

At 09:47 IST, the S&P BSE Sensex was up 388.67 or 1.03% at 38269.07.

 

The Nifty 50 index was up 106.25 points or 0.95% at 11340.8.

The S&P BSE Small-Cap index was up 94.17 points or 0.74% at 12817.47.

The S&P BSE 150 Midcap Index index was up 35.4 points or 0.82% at 4343.54.

On BSE,931 shares were trading in green, 428 were trading in red and 61 were unchanged.
