Metal shares gain

Metal stocks were trading in the positive zone, with the S&P BSE Metal index rising 77.13 points or 0.85% at 9152.62 at 09:45 IST.

Among the components of the S&P BSE Metal index, Steel Authority of India Ltd (up 7.95%), Vedanta Ltd (up 2.22%),Jindal Steel & Power Ltd (up 2.14%),JSW Steel Ltd (up 0.89%),Hindalco Industries Ltd (up 0.8%), were the top gainers. Among the other gainers were Tata Steel Ltd (up 0.79%), NMDC Ltd (up 0.47%), and National Aluminium Company Ltd (up 0.11%).

On the other hand, Coal India Ltd (down 0.82%), and Hindustan Zinc Ltd (down 0.09%) moved lower.

 

At 09:45 IST, the S&P BSE Sensex was down 119.46 or 0.32% at 37003.85.

The Nifty 50 index was down 34 points or 0.31% at 10969.5.

The S&P BSE Small-Cap index was up 33.5 points or 0.26% at 13129.56.

The S&P BSE 150 Midcap Index index was up 5.37 points or 0.12% at 4337.81.

On BSE,862 shares were trading in green, 472 were trading in red and 52 were unchanged.
