Quick Wrap: Nifty Auto Index rises 2.61%

Nifty Auto index closed up 2.61% at 7102.45 today. The index is up 5.00% over last one month. Among the constituents, Eicher Motors Ltd gained 4.15%, Maruti Suzuki India Ltd jumped 3.66% and TVS Motor Company Ltd added 2.94%. The Nifty Auto index is down 34.00% over last one year compared to the 5.12% decline in benchmark Nifty 50 index. In other indices, Nifty Metal index added 1.91% and Nifty Energy index increased 1.76% on the day. In broad markets, the Nifty 50 witnessed a rise of 0.91% to close at 10946.2 while the SENSEX added 0.92% to close at 36981.77 today.
