At least eight people were killed and about 40 injured in a blast at a Shia mosque in Pakistan's southern district of Shikarpur Friday, said a district police officer.
The mosque is located in Shikarpur's Lakhi Dar area and the explosion occurred just after the prayers.
A bomb disposal squad was dispatched to the area from Sukkur and rescue teams had reached Imam Bargah Maula Karballa where the explosion took place.
There is speculation that a suicide bomber may have carried out the explosion.
